Thanks Andy for the perspective.

On a related note, both Xerces and XML4J has not included
RevalidatingDomParser from the makefile; any reason? untested? not
recommended?

The code that would have become XML4J 3.0.0 was donated to Apache
and renamed Xerces. The current version of XML4J (3.0.1) as well
as future versions of XML4J are light wrappers on top of the
Xerces code base.

The team that worked on XML4J continues to work on and contribute
to Xerces development. We plan on refreshing XML4J after the next
Xerces release.
