Hi,
	In recent weeks we've seen numerous articles about how Windows
Media Video 9 (a.k.a. WMV9, VC-9) may become standard for HD-DVDs, edging
out H.264. I have been a little confused because I thought (or maybe just
assumed) that WMV9 is based on H.264. There is an article at EETimes that
has some tidbits of intelligence on the matter:

Choice quote: "'90 percent of the LSI' requirements for H.264 and WMV9 are
shared in common". Further, the following chart purports that the codecs
are pretty similar on a technical level:

It lists that the only substantial difference is that H.264 is open and
WMV9 isn't, yet.
