Hi....I have a Samsung 551v monitor with an SiS 300/305 video adaptor =
card, I can install and run perfectly mandrake 9.0
(which uses XFree86-server-4.2.1) but attempts to upgrade to mandrake =
9.1 (XFree86-server-4.3.5) gives me a X server
failure. My guess is there is no driver for the SiS 305 AGP with the =
4.3.5 version of XFree86. Is there any way to change out
the later version for an earlier one to make 9.1 work? I suspect it =
would have to be done at the command line level, as that is
all I can boot to ( and is something which I am rather weak at =
handling). On checking the /var/log/ there is no XFree.0.log file.
Checking /var/log/mdkkdm.log tells me XFree86 is using version 3.3.6. =
I'm truly confused. Any help most gratefully welcomed.
Thank you.......Fred Varley
