While building XFree86 4.2.1 on a Linux From Scratch system, I encountered a
strange segmentation error which I think caused many other errors in the
build.

To further complicate issues, I'm build this under User Mode Linux. I've
created s 3G file system onto which I built a minimal Linux From Scratch
system. I configured this to run under User Mode Linux and am attempting to
build the rest of a useful desktop system from here.

I've built freetype-2.1.2 as required for XFree86-4.2.1 and am building from
the sources for 4.2.0 plus the 4.2.0-4.2.1 patch. I've edited out all the
errors to make easier reading, but it seems this first error may be the cause
of the subsequent ones, so I'll only include it. I'm worried about a
segmentaation fault during the build process as I don't think I should be
seeing this unless there is a hardware problem.

</ERROR>

Of course, I also get many errors with my fonts, but that would seem to be
logical, given this error. The additional strange thing is, that make install
then worked, upto a point. It installed many components, but not the fonts or
XFree86 itself.

I'm trying make Everything now to see if it can recover the failed build.
This seems to have worked, but I'm still worried about the segmentation fault.

If anyone can shed some light on this issue, it might save me several days of
building.

Cheers,

	John Gay
