I'm trying to find a way to change the resolution of the screen, so that
I can run apps in fullscreen at a lower res than I usually do. If I'm
not misinformed the RandR extension is supposed to enable that feature.

I use SuSe Linux 7.3 and their XFree86 4.2.0, which includes an xrandr
binary and a libXrandr.so shared library.
When I try to run xrandr -q it claims "extension "RANDR" missing on
display", which is confirmed by xdpyinfo and the logfile.

So, how do I change screen resolution? Is RandR the way to go and what
is needed to use it? I've read that qt 3.1 will somehow be RandR
enabled, does that mean there's some wait yet?

PS. Antialiased fonts in KDE looks extremely good with XFree86 4.2, any
developer reading this -- THANKS!
