- whoever did the azerty/qwerty mods didn't bother to keep « and »
together.
- no access to oe without compose (and you know how compose feels for a
newcomer)

I admit this layout deviates from what's printed on a common keyboard
for two rarely used symbols (square and international currency unit)

This was mainly to keep the usual name and the one used my kbd, for
example. Plus X11 keyboard layout  may be independent of any charset
encoding but the fonts installed on any given system are not.

If you feel this is a big issue and have a better name, just tell me.
I'll do the X and kbd patch (though kbd releases are so rare people
might not see it before a few years)
