/etc/X11/XF86Config:

The two number behind DisplaySize are in millimeters.

Depending on the numbers you enter there and on you number of
horizontal
and vertical pixels you have configured in

Section "Screen"
    [...]
    Modes  	"1280x1024" "1152x870" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480" 
    [...]
EndSection

your DPI value will change.
