I was the individual who packaged up the fonts for XFree86 (with
permission from the organization that created them, Beth Mardutho). I
did not realize that some of the fonts had this problem -- the
presentation forms should NOT BE assigned any code points at all.

The Syriac fonts' format is OpenType. Currently no applications rely on
these code point assignments but they will be needed in the future. For
example, when Syriac code point #072C (Taw) and precedes #0710 (Alaph) a
new variant called Taw-Alaph is formed -- this variant is visually
distinct from its component letters and that's where these code points
come into play.

I will be contacting Beth Mardutho today and I will bring up this matter
with them again. Please have patience with them as well as with me.
