Hi Otis,
Looks like you might have a classpath problem. There isnt'an
org.apache.xerces.dom.ChildAndParentNode class in Xerces anymore--at least
not in the CVS version I have in my computer. IIRC, it was removed a long
time ago, certainly before 1.4.0.
So my advice is to a) look very carefully at what your Makefile's trying to
do with the classpath and b) try doing a checkout of the most recent CVS.
Hope that helps,
Neil

Subject: cannot resolve symbol MUTATION_ALL
Hello,
I am trying to compile Xerces using an external Makefile (not the one that
ships with Xerces).
One of the errors that I am getting is this:
xerces/src/org/apache/xerces/dom/ChildAndParentNode.java:296: cannot
resolve symbo
l
symbol : variable MUTATION_ALL
location: class org.apache.xerces.dom.ChildAndParentNode
return internalInsertBefore(newChild,refChild,MUTATION_ALL);
^
Question:
Where is this MUTATION_ALL variable defined?
ANd how come things compile when I use the Xerces' Makefile?
Where does _it_ find the definition of MUTATION_ALL, for example?
I checked all .java files that ship with Xerces 1.4.3 and there is no
definition of that variable anywhere.
Am I missing some files?
Any help would be very much appreciated. I've been stuck on this for 2 days
now :(
Thanks,
Otis
