Subject:    Problems compiling 1.5.9

When I try to run make on the current 1.5.9 sources, I get the following 
error:

/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -ldb1
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[3]: *** [xchat] Error 1
make[3]: Leaving directory `/home/bhartman/xchat-1.5.9/src/fe-gtk'
make[2]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/bhartman/xchat-1.5.9/src'
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/bhartman/xchat-1.5.9'
make: *** [all-recursive-am] Error 2[

Has anyone seen this error?   How can I fix it?  TIA for any assistance.
