Hello.

The Xalan-J project has three XPath APIs: the JAXP XPath API,[1] the
DOM Level 3 XPath API,[2,3] and the processor-specific Xalan-J XPath
API.[4,5]

The Xalan-J XPath API filled a need, as it existed before any
standard specification for an XPath API was available. Now that JCP has
defined a standard Java XPath API and the W3C has given a strong
indication of the form of a DOM XPath API (though not a recommendation),
it might be time to deprecate the Xalan-J XPath API. I'd like to solicit
any views for or against the idea.

See [6] for information about what it means for an API to be
considered to be a public API of Xalan-J.

Thanks,

Henry
