As long as you've got an appropriate JDK (actually needs to be 1.2+ to
compile cleanly now, although we should in theory still support 1.1.8
compilation) it should be simple. Using the build.sh/build.xml Ant
scripts is the easiest way to do it.
Note that xml-commons is not needed in any way for a Xalan build; all
the appropriate commons files are already checked in to the xml-xalan
CVS tree as a prebuilt xml-apis.jar and a corresponding
xml-commons-src.tar.gz file of all the sources therein for reference.
