Thanks both of you, anyway, I am installing the compilers that are on the
Forte Developer 6 cd that came with the Solaris 8 install kit.  I knew what
a compiler was just didn't realize they weren't already loaded.  Started
this new job last Monday and was told this particular server was ready.  I
have been fixing a bad installation for a week.  I'll keep you posted as I
continue to try and finish this installation.

There was a time, albeit elementary school for some, that none of us knew
what
and ANSI compiler was or what it did. Chad is right in that this situation
starts in the deep end. Sometimes users know more than it appears from their
messages because they send them out in a hurry and under pressure. I try
(T>R>Y>) to stick to ansewering the question that was asked. Often, knowing
that
it just leads to more questions. It's not "attidude" as much as an inability
to
blott out the big picture. Parenthood is a good way to develop it. If you
don't,
you go nuts.
