I think you need another tag in the wu-ftp file.

disable = no

e.g

service ftp
{
	disable = no
	socket_type = stream
	wait = no
	user = root
	server = /usr/sbin/in.wuftpd
	only_from = 192.168.0.2/250
}

Subject: problems with rhat 7.3

Hello everyone.

I need some thoughts on a problem I am having. I installed wu-ftp on a
redhat 7.3 system, along with the anonftp rpm so that anonymous ftp
should be enabled. I checked /etc/xinetd.d/wu-ftp and enabled it there.
  I also added the following lines to my xinetd.conf:

service ftp
{
	socket_type = stream
	wait = no
	user = root
	server = /usr/sbin/in.wuftpd
	only_from = 192.168.0.2/250
}

I then restarted xinetd. I also, just in case, issued a

chkconfig wu-ftpd on

command. However, I cannot sustain a connection. FTP clients state
they are connected on port 21, and then the connection immediately
closes.  Also,

ps aux | grep wuftpd

shows nothing running. Neither does substituting ftpd or wu-ftpd for
wuftpd on the previous command (I was just checking!).

I tried connecting both anonymously and as a local user on the machine.

I am running out of ideas. Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Hans
