Summary: Error 995 when trying to capture some wifi data
Product: Wireshark
Version: 3.2.1
Hardware: x86
OS: Windows 10
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: Major
Priority: Low
Component: GTK+ UI
Assignee: bugzilla-admin@wireshark.org

Build Information:

Hello. I ran across this Bug while trying with the latest stable wireshark
win64 and portable32 versions.
I tried capturing via wifi on win10.
It wouldn't allow me to and gave a 995 error stating that this is a BUG, and
not a CRASH.
I don't know what other details I can give. Laptop i7 processor. lenovo.
running standard dumb windows10 until I can get to a linux machine.
I needed to capture some data and wanted to record to a pcap file
and 995 bug popped out saying that there was some thread error or application
exited so I could never get the capture.
I was doing this while trying to analyze and record the wifi-login.
so I disconnect wifi, and try to reconnect, and I can't seem to figure out how
to go about doing this. I need the initial connection challenge/response when
the wifi connects.
so I select wifi when I'm connected.
I disconnect, and then when I re-connect to capture the auth login page.
I do have a vpn installed, but I disabled it for this testing and still have
problems..
I downloaded all the latest PCAP from the wireshark download page as well as
the USBpcap thing latest as of 1/29/20
