http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/periodic/period97/hood1297.htm

has sources for:

RtlInitAnsiString
RtlInitUnicodeString
RtlUnicodeStringToAnsiString
RtlUnicodeToMultiByteN
Basep8BitStringToUnicodeString
RtlFreeAnsiString
RtlFreeUnicodeString

and good explanations about handling of Unicode in NT.

Yet Another Windows is another good source of information.
Especially Rtl* and Nt* functions. Those guys widely use
disassembling of the NT's kernel32.dll :-)

Good source for ideas and implementation details.

Dmitry.
