You can look at our page: https://libraries.uc.edu/ We still have the tabbed search \
and website search. So far works well.

Subject: Re: [WEB4LIB] univ library website/home page recent redesign?
My experience has been that library website visitors are generally looking for things \
with a fairly high degree of specificity, and that does not fit well with a search \
that returns results from diverse resources. If this is a must, then the best \
practice is to search resources individually and organize results by resource type. \
Searching by subject or author across the catalog and databases is a good idea, as \
long as the results are organized by resource.
In practice, the way searches are organized will largely depend on how your catalog \
is organized and what you catalog.
Thanks,
Cary

If you have done a redesign of how your library's home page offers search options, \
and especially how you handle the whole "search the site itself vs search for books \
and articles" problem, I would very much like to hear from you.
Or if anyone knows of any good recent (less than 5 years old) published research \
about the usability aspects of those design issues specifically in the academic \
library website context, I'd appreciate those pointers.
Thank you!
