to more than 15 million print and electronic volumes, the library system currently \
provides access to a vast array of electronic resources in various forms and over \
31,000 linear metres of archival material. More than 150,000 new items are acquired \

servers and more than a petabyte of data.

The Opportunity
The University of Toronto Libraries seeks a user-focused, collaborative, and \
technologically adept librarian for the position of Web Services Librarian. The \
incumbent will apply a user-first lens to all of their work; they will coordinate \
selection, configuration, management and integration of the systems that support the \
seamless delivery of integrated library content, in conformance with defined \
standards and user requirements. The incumbent will coordinate provision of web \
analytics and related user analytics to inform the development of our digital library \
spaces, and support library colleagues in their provision of digital library content.

The incumbent will be a member of the University of Toronto Libraries' Information \
Technology Services Web Services team. They will work closely with content providers \
throughout the University of Toronto library system, and maintain strong \
relationships with faculty, administrators, CIO and distributed technical staff, \
students, and peers in other institutions and organizations to support an excellent \
experience for users of the University of Toronto's digital library.


Representative duties and projects include:
 Working with technical and content managers and staff to coordinate the \
implementation of flexible and intelligent web technology infrastructure, content \
frameworks, and site navigation for library digital spaces
 Coordinating the integration of our digital library with external web-based \
services  Ensuring that the Libraries' web platforms and web sites are AODA \
compliant and maintained to a high standard of responsiveness and accessibility; \
coordinating related testing, review and upgrade work.
 Collecting and providing assessment data such as web analytics, SEO research and \
qualitative usage data to understand user needs and support evidence-based decisions \
for web space development
 Coordinating large-scale web redesign and platform migration projects, including
implementation of content requirements; provision of page types and templates to \
support digital content in conjunction with an information architect and developer; \
identification of candidate systems for the Libraries' digital library \
infrastructure.  Supporting the distributed maintenance of UTL library content \
through instruction, documentation and consultation.
 Providing input into a strategic plan for the UTL web space, with the objective \
of simplifying user experience and ensuring that our students and faculty can quickly \
and efficiently access the resources and services they need.

Required Qualifications
 A degree from an accredited Master's level program in library and information \
studies  Good knowledge of user experience and interaction design principles, best \
practices and trends
 Strong understanding of information organization skills and their application in \
a digital context
 Excellent and demonstrated working knowledge of web accessibility
 Practical experience with relevant content management, issue tracking, \
collaboration version control and analytics tools such as Drupal, Confluence, Jira, \
LibGuides, WordPress, GitLab and Google Analytics
 Solid working knowledge of HTML, CSS and wireframing tools
 Proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively in teams that encompass a \
range of professional roles and knowledge
 Demonstrated strong user focus
 Proven project management experience
 Proven time-management and organizational skills; ability to lead multiple \
concurrent projects
 Experience in technical implementation projects; ability to convey trade-offs and \
plans to colleagues with different levels of technical expertise who represent \
different library services and audiences.
 Excellent oral and written communication skills
 Excellent problem solving and analytical skills and creativity

Preferred Qualifications
 Strong background in applying technology skills in a higher education context
 Work experience in a consortial higher education library environment
 Instructional experience

Salary and Terms of Appointment Salary and appointment level are based on experience \
and qualifications. This is a permanent status stream position.
