-- Primary Research Group Inc. has published the Survey of Academic Library
Leadership: Assessment of the Library Website, ISBN 978-157440-617-7

This report presents data and commentary from 80 academic library
directors, deans and other leading executives about how they assess and
what their plans are for the academic library website. The report helps
its readers to answer question such as: when was the last time the library
overhauled its website? When does it plan its next major overhaul? What
aspects of the library website is management most satisfied with? The least
satisfied with? How does the library and/or its parent institution govern
who can made content and other additions or changes to the library website?
How does the library evaluate how satisfied at its library patrons with the
library website? What consultants or other external help has the library
used in developing or managing its website?

Just a few of the report's many findings are that:

• 60% of respondents from research universities and 64.86% of those from MA
or PHD granting schools reported being satisfied or quite satisfied with
their library website.
• Respondents reported an average of 31.61 months (minimum 2 months,
maximum 120 months) as the last time their library website had a major
overhaul. Average time since library website overhaul varied significantly
by college type.
• The tendency to hire an outside consultant for the library website
decreased with the personal age of the survey participant.
Data in the report is broken out by size and type of institution, by
tuition level, for public and private institutions and by other useful
variables.
