Position:
The Albert S. Cook Library invites applications for a 12-month Web Services Librarian \
I or Librarian II position beginning Spring 2016. Under the direction of the \
Information Technology Librarian, the Web Services Librarian plays a key role in \
providing an outstanding library experience for students, faculty and staff of the \
University.
Qualifications:
Master's degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited library \
school. Demonstrated experience working with applications and websites using PHP, \
SQL, HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Experience working with open source applications, \
including Drupal. Knowledge of methods for gathering user needs in order to produce \
user-centered solutions. Demonstrate skill in instruction and reference assistance. \
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment. \
Appointment will be made at the rank of Librarian I or II, depending on experience.
Responsibilities:
Play a key role in providing an outstanding library experience for students, faculty \
and staff of the University. Provide primary web application development support for \
the library, enhancing student learning and research, faculty scholarship, and \
overall library services, resources and operations. Focus on services that improve \
the user experience for the University's students, faculty, and staff, collaborate \
with library staff and university personnel to develop applications using a variety \
of web languages, techniques and technologies. Participate in strategic planning and \
needs assessment to provide user-centered solutions that reflect a thorough \
understanding of the University community's library and research needs.
