Jon Udell's LibraryLookup bookmarklet <
http://weblog.infoworld.com/udell/stories/2002/12/11/librarylookup.html>
is a cool OPAC hack that pushes the catalog into arbitrary web spaces. Jon
and others have done variations on the bookmarklet and used greasemonkey
to increase the visibility of library holdings, but LibraryLookup was one
of the first tools to take this approach. Ross Singer and I are doing some
work with mirroring a Voyager catalog with a subject breakdown and webdav
access, this sets it up for use with tools like Google Desktop and custom
indexing. There's been some interesting hacks with swapping maps for
custom images in Google Maps, I would love to see someone use dynamic
images of library data with this interface.
