I would like to mount a dynamic database (a flat file, actually) and make
it accessible through our home page. I have created a file in Microsoft
Access, but if I have to, I'll do it some other way. Our web server is
UNIX. Is there some good database connectivity software that operates in a
UNIX environment, or can someone recommend another way to do this?

Concisely, I would like one file that lists all our databases, with a "yes"
or "no" value for each discipline. Then, one could click on psychology,
for example, run an SQL query, and get a list of all the databases that has
"yes" for psychology, and I would only have to maintain one file.

thanks in advance for suggestions.
