What I did was set the 'ro' flag in the alix /etc/fstab and in the
/etc/exports file on the remote NAS host. That ensures both the remote
NFS server will be only accepting read-only nfs connections
and the alix will only try to mount ro

On the NFS host (at IP 192.168.1.105)

cat /etc/exports
# nfs4 mounts for alix mpd player

/home/mpd/music 192.168.1.103(ro,sync)
/home/mpd/playlists 192.168.1.103(rw,sync)

On my Alix 2d2 (at IP 192.168.1.103) with Voyage MPD 0.9.2:

cat /etc/fstab
#/dev/hda1 / ext2
defaults,noatime,rw 0 0
proc /proc proc defaults
    0 0
tmpfs /tmp tmpfs nosuid,nodev
    0 0
#tmpfs /rw tmpfs defaults,size=32M
   0 0

192.168.1.105:/home/mpd/music /var/lib/mpd/music nfs
ro,rsize=1048576,noatime 0 0
192.168.1.105:/home/mpd/playlists /var/lib/mpd/playlists nfs
rw,rsize=1048576,noatime 0 0
