Just a note that recovery on power failures is not enabled by default, so don't \
forget to set VOYAGE_SYNC_RECOVER="YES" in /etc/default/voyage-util

Hi Erik,

a cutout from 0.6.5 README:

- [voyage-util]
   ...
   - add new voyage-rwfile script to support /ro /rw style read-only mode
   - [voyage-sync] add empty directory checking
   - [voyage-sync] fix .* hidden files not sync'ing
   - [voyage-sync] add VOYAGE_RW_DIRS for non-sync read-write directories
   - [voyage-sync] run sync command after finish synchronization to disk
   - [voyage-sync] corrected some typos and preserve ownership and permissions on \
copied directories to ramdisk. Killing running processes got also some changes. \
                (Hermann Hofer)
   - [voyage-sync] detect a reboot with data remaining in '/.sync/...' from a \
previously sync and copy this data over to the correct place before syncing and \
                mounting to ramdisk. (Hermann Hofer)
   ...

The issue with data loss from /.sync/xxx when a power-loss occures is 'fixed'. You \
can sync with 'voyage-sync sync' as often as you wish and data from last sync is \
recovered at reboot. Please take a look into '/etc/default/voyage-util'.

regards,
 Hermann

But it is too bad the /.sync/xxx folders are not synced on reboot instead(or in \
addition) of shutdown. This would fix data losses due to power losses. Any ideas \
when/how to minimize data losses other then backuping periodically data to a remote \
site?

Cheers
Erik

Hi,

These days I discovered flashybrid package that does very similar to
what voyage 0.6 does for rw/ro. Except that it only uses tmpfs.

In Voyage>=0.6.2, you can always use tmpfs instead of aufs for ext3/4.

Punky
