Thanks for pointing that out. The idea was to point out that a draft at
least exists that describes SBC in SIP world. I standard corrected regarding
the standardization/informational part.

The Draft does explicitly state:-

"The term SBC is relatively non-specific, since it is not standardized or
defined anywhere.  Nodes that may be referred to as SBCs but do not
implement SIP are outside the scope of this document."

I do not know the reason why SBCs and B2BUAs have been left along as orphans
by the Working Groups for standardization, SIPPING believes that SBCs are
not just SIP specific & that's a valid point.

>From an inter-operability perspective, the number of participants SBCs in
SIPIt events has steadily increased (to 17 for SIPIt20) in the past few
years. If that's not enough (17/90 implementations ~ 20% of SIP
implementations participating in SIPIt were SBC/B2BUAs !!!), then nothing
is.
