I'm a newbie to VNC and to the list, so please bear with me....
I'm running VNC on Solaris-2.5.1 (fully-patched) w/X11R6.4p3.
Everything compiled with no errors (gcc-2.8.1 w/optimization of -g -O3).
I ran the vncserver script (made the necessary changes) and supplied a
passwd (root first), then re-ran vncserver. It bound to Sun-E3000:1 with no
problems. (I su from my UID to root. Initially I'm running X from my
session). Here's the output from the 2nd vncserver:

New 'X' desktop is Sun-E3000:1

Creating default startup script //.vnc/xstartup
Starting applications specified in //.vnc/xstartup
Log file is //.vnc/Sun-E3000:1.log

I look into the //.vnc/Sun-E3000:1.log file. This is the output:

26/11/98 01:45:23 Xvnc version 3.3.2r2
26/11/98 01:45:23 Copyright (C) 1997-8 Olivetti & Oracle Research Laboratory
26/11/98 01:45:23 See http://www.orl.co.uk/vnc for information about VNC
26/11/98 01:45:23 Desktop name 'X' (Sun-E3000:1)
26/11/98 01:45:23 Protocol version supported 3.3
26/11/98 01:45:23 Listening for VNC connections on TCP port 5901
26/11/98 01:45:23 Listening for HTTP connections on TCP port 5801
26/11/98 01:45:23 URL http://Sun-E3000:5801
xrdb: No such file or directory
xrdb: Can't open display 'Sun-E3000:1'
xsetroot: unable to open display 'Sun-E3000:1'
twm: unable to open display "Sun-E3000:1"
Error: Can't open display: Sun-E3000:1

I'm not sure about the above errors. xrdb and twm is within the PATH variable.
The "Can't open display: Sun-E3000:1" error I'm not sure of either, even though
when doing a netstat -a the socket(s) are listening and the daemon is running:

root 19450 0.0 1.4 4288 3376 pts/3 S 01:45:23 0:00 Xvnc :1 -desktop X
-httpd /usr/local/vnc/classes -auth //.Xauthority -geometry 1024x768 -depth 8
-rfbwait 120000 -rfbauth //.vnc/passwd -rfbport 5901

*.6001 *.* 0 0 0 0 LISTEN
      *.5901 *.* 0 0 0 0 LISTEN
      *.5801 *.* 0 0 0 0 LISTEN

I'm not running a root desktop, just mine. I can go to either IE or Netscape
and access the server, but of course it is not running.

When I initiate vncserver from my UID I can set a password. But when I try
to start vncserver again I get the following errors:

New 'X' desktop is Sun-E3000:1

Creating default startup script /export/home1/wwinzer/.vnc/xstartup
Starting applications specified in /export/home1/wwinzer/.vnc/xstartup
Log file is /export/home1/wwinzer/.vnc/Sun-E3000:1.log

OUTPUT OF MY LOG FILE:

_XSERVTransSocketCreateListener: failed to bind listener
_XSERVTransSocketUNIXCreateListener: ...SocketCreateListener() failed
_XSERVTransMakeAllCOTSServerListeners: failed to create listener for local

Fatal server error:
Failed to establish all listening sockets
xrdb: No such file or directory
xrdb: Can't open display 'Sun-E3000:1'
xsetroot: unable to open display 'Sun-E3000:1'
Error: Can't open display: Sun-E3000:1
twm: unable to open display "Sun-E3000:1"

I'm trying to access my desktop from my laptop running Win95.

The permissions of Xvnc:

-r-xr-xr-x 1 root other 23684564 Nov 25 23:29 Xvnc

The /tmp directory permissions:

drwxrwxrwt 5 sys sys 876 Nov 26 01:58 tmp

As you can see, the permissions are correct (01777).

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
