I am not sure I understand what you're saying here.  On top of that I am not
familiar with Winpoet.

This indicates that your have not set up port forwarding at the NAT firewall
of your DSL router on the server end.  The client end is working fine, either
because it is not behind a NAT router, or because port forwarding has been
set up properly.  Follow the documentation on the RealVNC website and read
the links regarding port forwarding.
