I am pleased to announce the release of version 1.2a of vncsnapshot.
This release has a minor bug fix (a problem with capturing blank
screens), and a new feature: the ability to capture multiple snapshots
at timed intervals (based on a patch submitted by Mathias Broxvall;
thank you).

The release also includes vncpasswd, as requested by several people;
vncpasswd is built for Windows as well as for Unix systems, so you can
create password files for use with vncsnapshot on any platform. (Note
that the password files, while identical on both Windows and Unix/Linux
platforms, are not used by the standard Windows VNC clients and servers.)

The multiple snapshot feature is not fully debugged; for some VNC
servers, it repeatedly captures the initial screen image instead of
updated images, for some unknown reason. This has been observed with
Ultra VNC and KDE's built-in VNC server. As time permits, I will
investigate this problem.

Due to the fact that SourceForge's compile farm is down, only binaries
for Windows are available at the moment. Binaries for other platforms,
including Linux, various BSD flavours, Solaris, and Mac OS X will be
made available when the SourceForge compile farm is back up.

(There was a 1.2 release, by the way, but it was never announced, as I
found a significant bug in it the day after I uploaded it to SourceForge.)
