Set the $VIMRUNTIME environment variable to point to the location of
your run-time files.  You can put that setting in your ~/.profile.
It appears that you could also set $VIMRUNTIME in your ~/.vimrc, but
I'm not sure if that will set it in time.  Try it.  See

    :help $VIMRUNTIME
