Hi!

As a workaround, have you tried to "vxprint" dg's full definitions on the
"client" and overwrite them on the media server after the split?

Regards,

Jose Goyana Junior

Subject: [Veritas-vx] DG comes through BCV with no volumes

This is a multi-part message in MIME format.

Hi Folks,.

We are experiencing something weird on a BCV of Veritas disks.

Environment:

The client: Solaris 6 with VXVM 3.2

Media server, which mounts the client's BCVs. Solaris 8 with VXVM 3.5

No errors identified so far.

Sometimes when we split and import the BCV it comes without any volumes.

Most of the time it works OK. But when it happens:

- the DG on the standard disks is OK, with all its volumes, as
usual.

- On the media server the command to start the volumes was
issued with no errors... but there were no one to start.

Yes, sometimes the splitted BCVs appear to the Media Server with no
volumes. We check again the client and all is fine.

We are at this point clueless.

Anyone has any idea of what to do? The media server is full patched,
both Veritas and SO.

Thanks in advance,

Filipe.
