Thanks for the tip. I gave up and installed 5.0MP1 with the provided fix
for e1000g interfaces. I wanted to upgrade sometime soon anyway...why
not now?

I remember I had to modify a Perl module that came with SFS so it would
bypass checking the validity of the device name and get the installation
going. Once the installation was complete, I had to modify the
/etc/llttab to change the device name to the right ones.

 

However I don't remember the file name for the Perl module. What you may
want to do is go take a look at the 'installer' script and find it's way
to the Perl module that checks the device name.
