Meher,
Thanks for your prompt reply. There are two reasons for the move away
from CFS.
1.
We have bought an HSM product for online archiving that does not
support CFS.
2.
The original requirement was to provide block-level access to
data from our file server on our compute server. NFS mounts were at the
time a performance issue. However, the compute server has effectively
gone and been replaced by high-end workstations for which CFS is not a
realistic option.
Regards,
Paul Esson

Hi Paul Esson,
Why are you moving away from CFS toward a Local filesystem? Any specific
problems you are facing??
Also I do not know exactly about 3.5MP2, but if this was 4.0 I would do
the following
* Umount all CFS filesystems
# umount /test
* Determine the Master node
# vxdctl -c mode
* Deport all the shared diskgroups from the Master node.
make sure you stop all the volumes in the diskgroup before you perform
this step
# vxdg deport cfsdg
* Unconfigure CFS by running the following on any node in the cluster
# /opt/VRTSvxfs/cfs/bin/cfscluster unconfig
* Remove the VRTScavf & VRTSglm package from all nodes in the cluster
* This will remove the CFS functionality, so If you plan to reuse CFS,
do not do this..
# pkgrm VRTScavf
# pkgrm VRTSglm
* Import the shared diskgroup as a local diskgroup on the primary node
# vxdg import cfsdg
* Start all the volumes for the diskgroup
# vxvol -g cfsdg startall
* Check the filesystem using fsck. Full fsck is not required.
# fsck -F vxfs /dev/vx/rdsk/cfsdg/volumes
* Mount the filesystem without the -o cluster option
# mount -F vxfs /dev/vx/dsk/cfsdg/volumes /test
Take Care
~Meher

Subject: [Veritas-ha] Removing Cluster File System
Folks,
I have a two node cluster running the Cluster File System over VCS 3.5
MP2 on Solaris 8 (V880s). I would like to decommission the Cluster File
System part but retain the VCS framework for a future use. Can anyone
advise as to the process?
The currently shared disk group and clustered file systems need to be
retained with data intact but returned to being a regular disk group and
VxFS file systems on the primary/master node only.
