Jim;
What if the situation is such;
* Two SG, each with it's own Oracle instance.
* First SG (Production SG) running on Node 1 and 2nd SG (Test SG)
running on Node 2.
[Jim Senicka] ProdSG needs SystemList = Node1, Node2. TestSg
SystemList = Node2
* First SG requires a failover on any critical resource fault. It
cannot run on the same system as the 2nd SG.
[Jim Senicka] This would be default
* 2nd SG is a test instance and runs only on node 2. No Failover
required for 2nd SG if a critical resource faults. Only shutdown of SG
required.
[Jim Senicka] Setting a SystemList = Node2 will accomplish this
behavior
* IF the First SG faults on first node, then 2nd SG must shutdown
automatically on 2nd node to make way for First SG failing over.
Subsequently First SG will failover to 2nd node.
[Jim Senicka] Set up prod as child, test as parent with an
offline local depend
* No fail back of SG if first node recovers.
[Jim Senicka] This is default behavior
If I configure as such;
A system list of only "Node 2" for the 2nd SG (Test SG)
An "Offline local firm" dependency between First SG (Production SG)
(child) and 2nd SG (Test SG) (Parent)
[Jim Senicka] correct
My question;
IF the Child (Production SG) faults critically, will VCS 5.0 shutdown
the 2nd SG in order to failover the Production SG?
[Jim Senicka] yes
Just tested on the Sim.
VCS Simulator is your friend!!
Warmest Regards
Steven Sim

Subject: [Veritas-ha] SG interaction question
Hello,
We have 2 Oracle DB. One of them is under VCS control and can
switchovers between 2 nodes. Second must run only on one node if there
are no first Oracle instance on it. What the best practice to configure
it? HAtriggers or SG with only one system in it, controlled by link from
second SG?
Thanks, Sergey
