You may be better off using one of the file types. Based on the file, you
can conditionally execute the cron jobs on second machine.

Look at the types.cf (FileOnOff) is your best bet. Good Luck.

Subject: [Veritas-ha] Failing over cron jobs

Hello all,

We have VCS setup on our 2 Sun servers and run Oracle on it.
There is only one service group that comes online on one of the
2 systems. Now, we have batch jobs and other jobs that need
to run periodically on the system that has Oracle running.

Since VCS doesn't seem to have a built-in scheduler to run jobs
at given intervals, we need to use cron for scheduling. So the
problems are:-

(1) What is the best way to fail these cron jobs over?
(2) Is there a command that gives the time at which a service
group came online on a given system? (I ask this because
I can script based on this so that jobs that were running
during a failover can be restarted.)

All help is appreciated.

cheers
