Hey All.................

I'm attempting to use two Data Domain systems ...........

Use them on the following systems ::--->

Master = hpux 11.11, NBU 6.5.4
Media = hpux 11.11,  NBU 6.5.4

They are NFS mounted on both systems....

I have setup 4 Storage Units... One from each DD units attached to each

server...

And from those Storage unit's I have created 1 Storage Groups......

When I kick off a test backup ... This is all I get in the detailed
status  ::--->

Jan 27, 2011 2:08:25 PM - estimated 0 kbytes needed
Jan 27, 2011 2:08:27 PM - started process bpbrm (pid=1182)
Jan 27, 2011 2:08:27 PM - connecting
Jan 27, 2011 2:08:28 PM - connected; connect time: 0:00:00

Any idea's?

Thanks.....

Hi,

What does the bpbrm log say?
Can you write to the data domain NFS mounts as root?

Justin.

Please keep in mind that a lot of cool stuff in NetBackup is not
supported when running Solaris on X66 ?
We considered this as well but luckily we turned to Solaris on SPARC
(zones).

We are considering a new OS platform for our Netbackup media servers at
$WORK.

The current platform is Solaris on SPARC, the consideration is going to
Solaris on x86.

Is this a good idea? Is the conversion from Solaris SPARC to x86 more
or
less effort than a completely separate platform, say Redhat Linux?

Thanks in advance,

James

Good evening all,

We recently patched our 2010 exchange server with MS patch kb2419640
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2419640 and now we get the above error
only when trying to connect to the dag. We can connect to each box
individually but not the Dag. We have even patched the client to 7.0.1.
Anyone else out there seeing this?

What error code are you getting. Is it 59? If yes, did you check host
and
registry entries for the master/media servers.

The big one is that there is no dedup support - for either media server
dedup or the PDDO plugin.
Appliances that use NFS or FC VTL do work.
OST plugin support from the manufacturers varies - for example, Data
Domain does not have a Solaris x86 plugin but Quantum does.

Another big one is that there is no Granular Recovery Technology support
for Active Directory, Exchange, and SharePoint.

I've never seen one document that mentions all this, so if someone has
it and can share, I think we'd all appreciate it.

Hello

Since PD 6.6.1 there is support for PDDO on Solaris x86_64

Check the compatibility list http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH139108

Also in the release notes you cand find this

 Solaris 10 x64 OST Plug-in

Can be found here http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH137146

The big one is that there is no dedup support - for either media server
dedup or the PDDO plugin.
Appliances that use NFS or FC VTL do work.
OST plugin support from the manufacturers varies - for example, Data
Domain
does not have a Solaris x86 plugin but Quantum does.

Another big one is that there is no Granular Recovery Technology support
for
Active Directory, Exchange, and SharePoint.

I've never seen one document that mentions all this, so if someone has
it
and can share, I think we'd all appreciate it.

What error code are you getting. Is it 59? If yes, did you check host
and registry entries for the master/media servers.
