Is the media server active? Probably not.

Who is the server you used to do the duplications? Probably you had used
the old media server.

Run the command "bpimagelist - backupid yos_sam1_1195057147 -d
01/01/2000 -e 01/01/2010" and check who is the server that has the
fragments that are using the D10069 and D10074 tapes. This is the media
server that handles the restore.

Then try to move the tapes from the old media server to the new one. Run
the command

bpmedia -movedb -m D10069-oldserver <old server> -newserver <new media
server>

bpmedia -movedb -m D10074-oldserver <old server> -newserver <new media
server>

check the fragments again with the bpimagelist.

Then try to do the restore

stefanos

Ps you have to delete the old alternate restore media servers from the
host properties of the master server (if any) and add an entry to the
media host override.

Subject: [Veritas-bu] Restore issue after many changes...

Our environment, HP-UX 11-31 currently running on a DataDomain VTL, one
master and media server running NetBackup 6.5.2. This is going to be a
tough one to explain so bear with me. We were rushed to move our data
center to a new location and are not quite done with the move. Things
were not as smooth or controlled as we would have liked. During this
time, we also migrated from a Surstore 20/700 tape library to a Data
Domain VTL. Our 20/700 tape library wasn't moved as we are scheduled to
get a library from another site but do not have it yet so at this time I
don't have a physical tape library connected to NBU. We also went from
a master / media server (hqhp3) to a master with a separate media server
(yos_sam1).

I had some tapes that I had duplicated and left the primary in the
library as we get quite a few restore requests from one group. Before
disconnecting the tape library I duplicated these tapes again to the
Data Domain VTL. I have made the Data Domain copies the primary copy
using the bpdulicate -npc command. Now for my problem, I'm trying a
restore and it is pointing to the correct VTL tape and waiting for
recourses. It is saying that the Tape media server is not active but it
is indicating that the server it is waiting for is hqhp3 which is my
master server, not the media server. I have done other restores from
the VTL during testing with no issues. I'm thinking part of the problem
may be because of the duplicated images but am not sure.

Below is what I am seeing:

11/17/2009 11:36:30 - begin Restore

11/17/2009 11:36:33 - number of images required: 1

11/17/2009 11:36:33 - media needed: D10069

11/17/2009 11:36:33 - media needed: D10074

11/17/2009 11:36:38 - restoring from image yos_sam1_1195057147

11/17/2009 11:36:40 - connecting

11/17/2009 11:36:42 - Warning bpbrm (pid=29477) expected start message
from elmer1; read: Unrecognized -J string spsrestoreoptions=0

11/17/2009 11:36:42 - connected; connect time: 0:00:00

11/17/2009 11:36:41 - requesting resource D10069

11/17/2009 11:36:41 - awaiting resource D10069. Waiting for resources.

Reason: Tape media server is not active, Media server: hqhp3,

          Robot Type(Number): TLD(1), Media ID: N/A, Drive Name: N/A,

Volume Pool: N/A, Storage Unit: N/A, Drive Scan Host: N/A,

Disk Pool: N/A, Disk Volume: N/A

If anyone has any idea what is causing this or what to check out, please
let me know. I'm out of ideas.

Thanks in advance..
