We had exactly the same problem. Our NetBackup Master/Media Server is
Windows 2000.
Do you know what is the firmware version on your 9710?
I had Veritas consultant here and he did not know what is the reason. But, I
also had STK guy to check logs on DLT drives and he told me that one drive
is bad and another is about to be bad, and he also said that it might have
caused my problems.
Also, when I spoke to veritas they told me that my firmware version on my
9710 is not tested 2.00.02 I believe.
Anybody knows what is really going on here>??? Help!!!!!!!!

We are having a bad problem with Silo connectivity.

Netbackup Master/Media Server SUN E4000

Two STK9710 Silos 10 DLT7000's EACH.

We do a sgscan and all of the devices show up.

Everything robtests fine.

In the middle of backups, each drive eventually gets downed.

bp.kill and then restart veritas, and the TLD's do not come up.

sgscan shows all of the tape drives OK, but does no show the Silo(Robotic
connection).

Each robotic connection is on a separate SCSI Channel.

Reboot the server, SGSCAN shows everything OK, TLD's come up fine.

Backups run for a day or two, then the problem repeats.

STK says the SILO's are OK.
