Hi,

have you considered to use
#if(...)...#end#*if*#
#foreach(...)...#end#*for*#
etc.?

What do you mean with "localized variables"? Have you seen the
#local directive in the contrib section? I really hope this one
becomes part of the velocity core in the next release!
