First of all thank you...
Second... argh no I didn't... (I didn't find anything about this on docs...)
but now I did:

./configure --enable-passwd
make
make install-strip

But...
As before.... no way to authenticate against /etc/passwd:

Sep  7 15:51:44 pcprova vpopmail[4295]: vchkpw-pop3: vpopmail user not found
prova1@:10.6.100.130
