Apparently you are booting the VM from
VBoxGuestAdditions.iso. It's not made for that.

First have the VM boot from the Ubuntu installation .iso,
install Ubuntu to the virtual harddisk, shutdown the VM,
boot the VM from the now installed virtual harddisk.

After those steps you can now attach VBoxGuestAdditions.iso
(use the Device menu of the VM window) and run the installer
from the image.
