The key to make networking work is that you should be able to at least ping the name \
server and the default gateway. Are you able to do that? Also, are you behind any \
corporate firewall. If so, make sure you are using a proxy. You can set the \
http_proxy unix variable (and export it too) and then test with $ wget yahoo.com \
(say). For the browser, set the proxy manually in its preferences.

Subject: [vbox-users] 答复: How to use bridge network with windows xp host?

If I understand correctly, fixed IP is a key?
Now I have the bridge and vbox1 two fixed IP, and windows connection, bridge and \
vbox1 all say that they are connected, even do some blinking for me. But my network \
in vm does not work totally. I have done bridge on linux hosts, which is easy. On \
windows hosts, it is really a mess.

Subject: [vbox-users] How to use bridge network with windows xp host?
Hello,
As the manual says, I created an interface with GUI. Then I chose \
the interface and my nic to create a bridge from pop menu in network \
                folder.
So the bridge and my nic both said they were "connected", but the \
vbox interface did not. Then I start my vm (debian sid). It could probe the device, \
but said that the network is unreachable. And the interface I saw in windows is also \
unconnected.
                 What should I do?

Thanks.
