Thanks all. I read the manual and was able
to slog through getting bridging set up under Ubuntu.
(It should be a lot easier...)

My WinXP as guest OS now works fine under Vbox 1.5.2
running on Ubuntu 7.10

NAT did not work with WinXP for whatever reasons, at least for me.
NAT does work when I use a Linux guest OS. go figure.
