With the project's recent release of v5.0-RC3, it's being a long way
since the first BETA1 release in April. 3 months into the making.
Short summary of important bugs.
Drag-n-Drop bugs make the usual headlines:
Drag-n-Drop: VM deadlock on network share copy
Drag-n-Drop: Linux/GNOME guest-to-host fails
Drag-n-Drop: Guest-to-Host fails above 200 MB (Windows-to-Windows)
Drag-n-Drop: KDE4 Linux guests still broken; Guest-to-Host
Drag-n-Drop: Doesn't work on Mac OS X hosts at all
...and a bunch of regressions:
[Regression in RC3] VB 5.0 RC3 and Mac OS X 10.10.4
[Regression from 4.3.14] [PATCH] 3D acceleration: Aero flicker on
Linux/NVIDIA hosts
Regression: host network connectivity loss when closing VM
[Regression] VMM: openSUSE 13.2 boot failed on Windows (and Fedora 22)
+AC'97 codec on Mac OS X issues (Linux guests)
...This v5.0 release cycle already earned the dubious honor of
longest-beta-release-ever.
Three months in the making, but v5.0-still feels unfinished.
The good news: I hope to try it on some server hardware soon.
(Intel Xeon Haswell 24-way vCPU (12 cores+HT) + 288 GB of RAM, and see
how far it goes... on Linux)
That said, v5.0 is improving...
Best wishes,
