The problem that you'll see in that case is that the first time you
run Unison that uses a new archive format is that Unison has no
history, and so for changed files, it cannot tell which version is
newer. The result is that all differences are conflicts and you have
to resolve them manually. Ideally, you can run the old version of
Unison to make the two replicas identical, and then immediately run
the new version to record that state.
