Hi,
I have unison 2.40.65 on ubuntu12.04 that syncs perfectly against a remote
machine through ssh (remote machine runs red had with unison 2.40.102).
However, for a number reasons (unrelated to this post) I cannot
establish a vpn connection with ubuntu12.04 to the remote machine. I can
however if the machine runs ubuntu9.10. Therefore, I created a virtual
machine with ubuntu9.10 which successfully connects through vpn to the
remote red hat machine. I installed unison 2.40.102 on the virtual machine.
I am usually in the office (without vpn), so I normally use unison from
the ubuntu12.04 host. However, eventually I travel and need to keep sync
through vpn. So, I would like to "see" the same /media/DATA/myfolder
folder on both the host (ubuntu12.04) and the guest (ubuntu9.10), and
also "see" the same .unison folder on both host and guest. In the
virtual machine I can share folders with the host, and through symbolic
links "see" the same locations for both, the /media/DATA/myfolder folder
and the .unison folder.
However, when I run unison from the guest, I get the following message,
as soon as unison attempts to connect to the remote machine:
Fatal Error
Warning: the archives are locked.
If no other instance of unison is running, the locks should be removed.
The file /home/bernabe/.unison/lkd3b4b3443afe2435d57107a5a29c7edd on
host vmubunut910 should be deleted
Please delete lock files as appropriate and try again.
The guest machine name is vmubuntu910. Thus, I included in the
preference file the following statement:
rootalias = //vmubuntu910//mnt/hgfs/mysharedfolder_at_host ->
//bernabepc4//media/DATA/myfolder
Now unison connects to the remote machine, starts syncing, waits for
changes from the server, but when it starts reconciling changes, shows
the following error message:
Fatal Error
Warning: the archives are locked.
If no other instance of unison is running, the locks should be removed.
The file /home/bernabe/.unison/lk0d7870703d36c07e4576de32c4670bad on
host vmubuntu910 should be deleted
Please delete lock files as appropriate and try again.
Is there a way around this?
