Hello,
I'm willing to use unison to sync 2 Storage-servers in 2 different countries.
I have ZFS Snapshots (backups) on the client, those snapshots actually does not uses \
actual HDD-Space, as long as the content of the HDD does not differ from the \
snapshot. The second server server (playing the server role in unison) also have ZFS.
My question is : is unison able to see that some files in .zfs directory are just \
refferences, and will it be able to save space and bandwith by not transferring those \
files, but only make sure that the server has a refference too ? Or will unison just \
consider those ZFS refferences as another file and consume bandwith and HDD-Space on \
the server to store both the file and the reference as 2 distinct files on the server \
?
If unison does not support zfs snapshots (backups not using actual space) by keeping \
low on the bandwith, I would like to know if I can setup unison to ignore all .ZFS \
directories (which are hidden anyway and does not appeas on ls -al ) so that both \
client and servers handles they own snapshots and unison just handle the live \
version... (It would mean that restoring a file from the snapshot on the client does \
not use HDD-Space, but it would anyway consume bandwith and actual space on the \
server that would maybe not recognize that he already has the "new" version of the \
file in the Snapshots on the server-side.)
Anyone with experience with ZFS and unison is welcome to help me !
