Is there a way to overcome this scenario by configuring Unison?

If Unison is run in batch mode periodically by a cron job, and the
period is less than the time it takes to complete synchronization (
eg. run every minute and synch a new 800MB file) then Unison stomps
itself. Meaning, the current unison process stops transferring the
file and the new one tries to start, the cycle can be endless. I
had thirty some odd unison processes giving it a shot at once, it
wasn't pretty.

Is there some way that Unison can prevent itself from doing this?
Like maybe generating a lock file for itself or something?
