the patch uses -p0 which confused me, and when i glanced at the patch, it 
didnt look like a normal git patch: it used -p0, lacked git commit message 
(used the useless GNU style instead), and had no s-o-b tag.

so you're right it was against the uClibc git and if i applied manually with 
`patch -p0`, it would have applied cleanly.  but none of the other git 
methodology was used thus preventing a clean `git am -3 -s <mbox>`.
