I've just checked and it should work. You should be able to drag an
entire folder from one account to another, and you should be able to
drag individual messages or groups of messages from one mailbox to
another, including between accounts. It should be quite fast unless
there are LOTS of messages involved or you move them to a remote
folder.

That said, if you just disable the POP account, all those folders just
become locally stored messages. You don't have to move them anywhere
unless you want to.

But if you've found a solution - that's great!
