Hi All,
I've installed Ubuntu on my friend laptop a few month ago. All went great
and he was very happy with it.
Two days ago he went out and bought an AiO HP 3835 - without consulting me
first.
I've been trying to make it work since then...
This is what I've done:
1. I went to the Printers in the System Settings.
2. I waited for the Printer to show up and clicked on it (connected via
USB).
3. I chose HP for the manufacturer.
4. The printer's specific model is not on the list, only 3022 or 3040...
5. I looked it up on the HPLIP page and it shows up as supported.
- The printer shows up in 'lsusb'.
- When I try to run 'hp-probe' or 'hp-setup' it immediately claims it
cannot locate any device...
I am very frustrated. How can I obtain the specific models' PPD file?
Trying to search for the Linux driver on HP's Website refers me to HPLIP!
I am afraid to ask my friend to replace the printer, because he might blame
Linux in general and ask to switch back to Windows(!)...
Please help!
Amichai.
